use case: Three people are working on the same record and are overwriting themselves their changes.
Is there a way to lock a records for other users while one of them is working on the record? And maybe displaying the other users who’s working on the record?

. But will take some considerable effort. It has been discussed previously and not progressed due to other priorities and also alternative concepts.
I’ve not seen the feature yet, but in 10.30, draft workflows were added that do not use the existing draft system. This is work that sits on top of the workflow functionality added in 10.29. The concept here would be that your records would have this draft system enabled and that changes would go through draft and approval such that multiple changes would be visible as independent changes.
You could still have a problem with people self-approving their own drafts all at the same time and having the same effect, but this system seems like a sensible starting place that could provide interfaces for dealing with that.
